In an effort to overcome the problems present in traditional processes for cement firing, Institute of Powder Engineering has undertaken experimental research for years and theoretical analysis in depth. On this basis, the coarse granules fluidization technology was developed for clinker firing. The relatively simple process casts aside raw meal firing in lumped state and converts it in a suspending state. This paper describes the laboratory facilities for coarse granules fluidization of cold state and observations and measurements secured. From the experimental results, operating parameters of coarse granules fluidized bed are put forward and improvements in the facility configuration are suggested. In order to explore the operation codes of coarse granules fluidized bed, the experimental research was investigated under room temperature. The experimental results indicated that the operating stability of coarse granules fluidized bed relate to the bed height, superficial gas velocity and location of zero pressure level. With the zero pressure level, measured from the gas distributor in the range of 0. 085-0. 315 mm , the static height of materials of 0~2D(D- the diameter of fluidized bed), the superficial gas velocity range of 1.09-1.76 m/s, the coarse particle fluidized bed was operated properly.Another experimental project of clinker calcinations was carried out by using a high-temperature fluidized experiment device. The hot-state experimental results indicated that the process arrangement proved reasonable, and the individual units were connected properly. The 28 d-compressive strength of clinker which was produced in the project was high . The raw meal granules were gradually adding into the hot gas stream of 600℃. At 1350℃,the fluidization velocity was in the range of 11.2-16 m/s. The pressure drop across the bed was in the range of 4500-6500 Pa and the zero pressure level was observed to occur above the gas distributor with distanceof 0?00 mm in the experiment. The critical gas velocity of fluidization was recognized to be highly than 7.09 m/s at 1350 "C.From the experimental results, the operation codes were recommended for calcinning clinker by the coarse granules fluidization technique.
