Structure ceramics have a lot of strong points, such as high hardness, high strength, anti-erosion, low density and outstanding chemical stability and mechanical capability at high temperature. It has been known gradually and used as wear– resistance material in a wide range of industrial application, especially in the tribological field. When friction pairs consisted of different ceramics be used, the tribological characteristics of ceramics are different. Therefore, the people pay more attention to the research on the ceramics friction and wear. The friction pairs are set up by disks and pins. The disks are made by different materials such as zirconia (Y—TZP), alumina(Al2O3), hot pressed silicon nitride(Si3N4), stainless steel(1Cr18Ni9Ti), cast iron. Similarly, the pins are made by silicon carbide (SiC), Ti3SiC2, hot pressed silicon nitride (Si3N4) and Copper immersed Graphite. Nine friction pairs are composed of different pins against the different disks, such as SiC/ZrO2, Si3N4 /ZrO2, SiC/1Cr18Ni9Ti, Si3N4/Si3N4, Si3N4/cast iron, Ti3SiC2 /1Cr18Ni9Ti, Si3N4/Al2O3, SiC/Al2O3, Copper immersed Graphite/1Cr18Ni9Ti (pin/disk).Dry–sliding experiments without lubricating are carried out under the condition of room temperature. The experiments are carried out by high temperature and high velocity tribometer. Friction moment is transferred to a recorder by a transducer continuously during the test and the values of the friction coefficient are determined. According to the experiment datas, we can get the function curve of friction coefficient and load, together with the function curve of wear rate and time at different load. From the curves, we can find there are flake formation, relatively, powder formation and ploughing, wear between relatively flake formation and powder formation and ploughing during the experiments.From the results of the experiments, nine friction pairs are classed as the wear grades In order to test the fatigue wear mechanisms of the friction disk, the stress analysis of the sliding surface of the disk was adopted by the software of ANSYS and the stress distribution and the relationship between the defects of ceramics and the stress distributing was got.In a word, the research on the friction and wear characteristics of the nine friction pairs not only perfects and enriches the content of tribology theory, but also provide the standard for choosing right ceramics wear-resisting pairs.
