Phenol is the important raw material or midst substance of paper making , coking plant, oilrefining, plastic, pesticide and medicine composiug etc.More and more phenol waste water withourtreatment is threatening the environment heavily with the development of economy. It is economicand effective that using the method of microorganism biodegradation to treat with phenol waste water. And it has not second pollution too.A strain that can grow with phenol as the sole source of carbon and energy,L3 was isolated from the waste water of yang jiabao waste water disposal factory .on the basis of observing of modality and the analysis , L3 was identified as Rhodopseudomonas palustris. The optional conditions of the degradation of the phenol and the kinetics were studied with L3. And it was found that 7.0 was the optional pH , 30 C was the optional temperature, and the degradation of phenol could be quickened by appending CO2,when phenol was degraded by L3. Then also found that when the initional concertrations were 50,100,200,300,400,500mg/L, the kinetics of the degradation with L3 were fitted in first-order reaction equations. In addition, it wasfound that qmax was8.00mg/L, Ks was247.92mg/L, Y was 5.88mg/mg, Kdwas0.29d-1.
