| With the rapid development of modern industry, automation of manufacturing process becomes an urgent need of users. It is the future trend of technical development that all segments of manufacturing, including material supply, machining, part measurement programming, deviation inspection, data compensation and re-machining, will be automated. In order to meet this need from some technically advanced enterprises, this thesis offers an overall plan from design through execution to utilization as our response to the tentative thought of the users. The idea was originated from our experience with one of the most important customers of our company—Foxconn. The business of this enterprise, which has more than 40 plants throughout the world, is model design and machining, manufacturing of the frame of mobile phone. It has gain large market share through advanced technology and design concept. For the purposes of satisfying the constant new needs of the market, cutting down the machining cost and improving the production efficiency, they raised this concept. Brown & Sharpe Qingdao cooperated with Foxconn in conducting this project, including planning, design, system establishment, CMM programming, VB interface programming, CMM online calibration, automatic CAD data transfer and related automatic capture of ORACALE data base information. The system runs in closed loop full-automatically.It took nearly a year to plan and carry out the project and now the system is in full use.The establishment of the system leads to a labor saving of three measuring operators, avoidance of losses due to male function in manual operation, and realization of automation of the whole system including material preparation, rough machining, fine machining, CMM measuring, data deviation compensation and correcting machining deviations. The customer feels even confident because of the benefits from this project. The customer bought two more CMMs from us and planned to automate all the part machining according to this methodology in order to ensure accuracy and efficiency in each production segment, improve product quality, cut down product cost and make more profits. The success of the system attracts its sister companies in Finland and Denmark. Both they are planning to realize this idea in their EROWA measuring system. |
