Pharmaceutical analysis is an important means to guarantee medicines safe and effective, which has the prominent function in each link of drugs including research, production, usage, circulation and management. The main contents in pharmaceutical analysis include: characters, identification, tests and assay. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry is a common method for pharmaceutical analysis. It has a lot of advantages such as high accuracy, simple apparatus, convenient operation and fast speed when used in the identification, tests and assay of drugs. It is a method most in use to analyze drugs.This paper chooses the antibiotics intending to be registered as research topics to study their identification, tests and assay by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. These antibiotics includes Metronidazole Buccal Tablets, Metronidazole Disodium Phosphate for Injection, Ceftriaxone Sodium for Injection, Clarithromycin Tablets, Potassium Sodium Dehydroandroan Drographolide Succinate. The results indicate that ultraviolet spectrophotometry is feasible and reliable when applied to the analysis of drugs and preparations with ultraviolet absorption bands.When proceeding the research of drug identification by ultraviolet spectrophotometry, this paper adopts the approaches below: to identify Metronidazole Buccal Tablets and Potassium Sodium Dehydroandroan Drographolide Succinate by ulviolet maximum absorbent wavelength (λmax); to identify Metronidazole Disodium Phosphate for Injection by ulviolet maximum absorbent wavelength (λmax) and minimum absorbent wavelength (λmin); to identify Ceftriaxone Sodium for Injection and Clarithromycin Tablets by retention time(rR) of high performance liquid chromatography- ultraviolet spectrophotometry.The research indicates that: (1) detecting λmax (277nm) can identify Metronidazole Buccal Tablets prepared by Chongqing Medical College; (2) detecting λmax (321nm) and λmin (265nm) can identify Metronidazole Disodium Phosphate for Injection prepared by Chongqing Medical College; (3) detecting tr (6.7min) in HPLC-UV spectrum can identify Ceftriaxone Sodium for Injection prepared by Chongqing Keru Pharmacy Co.; (4) detecting tR (10.2min) 6.7min in HPLC-UV spectrum can identify Clarithromycin Tablets prepared by Harebin Yida Pharmacy Co.; (5) detecting λmax (254nm) can identify Potassium Sodium Dehydroandroan Drographolide Succinate prepared by Hong Kong Yaohen Co..The results can be obtained from the research of detection of medicines by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. It is that: (1) the related compounds in Metronidazole Buccal Tablets prepared by Chongqing Medical College can be tested by determining (321nm) the total peak area of the impurities; (2) The related compounds in Metronidazole Disodium Phosphate for Injection prepared by Chongqing Medical College can be test by determining (254nm) the total peak area of the impurities and the peak area of the largest impurity; (3) Ceftriaxone polymer in Ceftriaxone Sodium for Injection prepared by Chongqing Keru Pharmacy Co. can be test by determining (254nm) the polymer peak area; (4) Metronidazole Buccal Tablets prepared by Chongqing Medical College can be calculated content uniformity by determining (277nm) the absorptivity after finishing a standard operation; (5) Metronidazole Buccal Tablets prepared by Chongqing Medical College can be calculated released rate by determining (277nm) the absorptivity after finishing a standard operation.The final results available from the research are that: (1) the content of Metronidazole Buccal Tablets prepared by Chongqing Medical College can be calculated according the absorption (277nm); (2) Ceftriaxone Sodium for Injection prepared by Chongqing Keru Pharmacy Co. can be assayed by HPLC-UV (254nm); (3) Clarithromycin Tablets prepared by Harebin Yida Pharmacy Co. can be assayed also by HPLC-UV(210nm); (4) Potassium Sodium Dehydroandroan Drographolide Succinate prepared by Hong Kong Yaohen Co., it's content can be assayed (251nm).
