In the experiment, which treat municipal wastewater by bio-contact oxidition method, the basis of carrier'singling out will be provided by Experimental studying three representative kinds of carrier. Experiment results showed that ceramic granular was better, when the requirement of removal rate of COD, NH3-N and SS in municipal wastewater was better; YDT carrier had advantage over ceramic granular in case we considered existing wastewater treatment plants' rebuilding or economic factor. The main content of this paper was as followed:(1) The experiment researched the biofilm culturing rate of every column reactor. The results showed that the biofilm culturing rate of ceramic granular column reactor was rapid thanYDT column reactor, stove slug' biofilm culturing rate was the slowest.(2) The experiment used column reactors remove COD, NH3-N and SS of municipal wastewater in variant hydraulic loading and gas-water ratio. The results showed that ceramic granular column reactor's removal rate of COD, NH3-N and SS were better than YDT and stove slug column reactors' removal rate, stove slug column reactor's removal rate was worse.(3) The kinetics model of bio-contact oxidation to decompose organic matter was probed into, and the kinetics parameter and kinetics equation were obtained.(4) The experiment calculated the investment of reactors with different carrier and their management costs. The result showed that the investment of ceramic granular reactor with carrier and its management cost was the highest compare with reactors with YDT carrier and stove slug carrier.
