In the modern era, information exchange is more frequent. In the packaging and printing field, pre-printing disposal is more important in the printing process, its quality will influence the printing and post-printing. But at present, image distortion unavoidable is necessary in the long-distance transmission. But it will bring the image quality problem in the transmission course. At present, many magazines have distributers in the country. It is important to transmit the images in the magazines to every printing distributer immediately and images take up the net bandwidth less. It will increase net transmission action in the same net bandwidth.The paper aims at the upwards problem. It uses wavelet and fractal to compress image and compare its compression result. Then sum-up what is fit for wavelet and fractal compression. The paper introduces the history and present status of wavelet and fractal image compression encoding as well as several main fractal compression techniques. The significant progress in the research of wavelet and fractal compression in recent years are summarized. On the base of reading large information and sum-up others programs, I get the program of wavelet and fractal. Through choosing different images and comparing the compression result, I get the difference in the time and storage space and the eyes can watch. Then I sum-up the advantage and disadvantage on the wavelet and fractal. At the end, on the base of summary, it brings forward the new blending wavelet and fractal method in the domestic and overseas.
