This paper briefly introduced the progress on the research of antibacterial agents and reviewed the development, fabrication method and antibacterial properties of inorganic antibacterial agents. In terms of the current development of antibacterial agents and practical conditions of our country, a new technology-synthesis of new type antibacterial layer silicate by ion exchange in liquid phase was studied. The antibacterial mechanism of inorganic antibacterial agents was discussed as well. The research work was described in detail as the following aspects:1) The synthesis of new type antibacterial layer silicateThe antibacterial layer silicate was synthesized by liquid -phase ion exchange fixing bactericidal metal ion Cu2+ on modified montmorillonites. The effects of Cu2+ initial concentration, pH value, and reaction time on antibacterial ion content were studied. The optimum condition of the synthesis was determined by the orthogonal test and stated as follows: concentration of CuCl2 , reaction time and pH value are taken 0. lmol L-1, 50~60min and Natural pH respectively.2) In static magnetic field the synthesis of new type antibacterial layer silicateOn the base of optimum synthesizing conditions as above, the further research on the synthesis of new type antibacterial layer silicate in static magnetic field was made. The effects of magnetic density and magnetic treatment time were studied. It was shown that the reaction time of synthesis in static magnetic field is reduced largely. With the increasing of magnetic density, copper amount in antibacterial layer silicate rises linearly. In addition, the synthesized antibacterial layer silicate in magnetic field is stabler than that without magnetic field.3) Study on the antibacterial properties of powderTo study the antibacterial effect of different samples such as the various Cu2+ content and different treating conditions, inhibition circle, MIC et al were tested. The results showed that the containing 0.9% Cu2+ antibacterial powder is shown a certain effects against both bacterium and mold. When antibacterial powdercontained 3% Cu2+ or more, its disinfecting bacterium rate is above 98%, but disinfecting mold rate is 70%. So, the synthesized antibacterial layer silicate had excellent bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects. It was also showed that stability and sustaining of the synthesized antibacterial layer silicate are good. 4) Testing and analyzing on the properties of the antibacterial powderWith different kinds of tests and measurement such as XREK SEM and IR, the mechanism of synthesis was analyzed. The results showed that the reaction between modified montmorillonite and Cu2+ in water is cation exchange mainly, and a small part of Cu2+ is adsorbed on the surface of the modified montmorillonite . It was found that, compared with the modified montmorillonite, microcosmic structure of Cu-bearing antibacterial layer silicate in static magnetic field or not has not obvious change. Because of cooperative action of strong adsorbing, fixing and sustained-release Cu2+, the systhesized antibacterial layer silicate has excellent antibacterial properties.
