This thesis is mainly composed of two parts. In the first part, on the basis of reviewing the research progress of hydrogen bonding adsorption and hydrogen bonding adsorbents, an oxidized tertamine resin is synthesized by oxidizing D301 resin, and its adsorption property for phenol in hexane and aqueous solution is measured. The results show that the oxidized tertamine resin can adsorb phenol from hexane solution more efficiently than D301 can do, while the adsorption is also based on hydrogen bonding yet, though the interaction between the oxidized tertamine resin and phenol molecules is stronger that that between D301 resin and phenol; the oxidized tertamine resin can also adsorb pihenol from aqueous solution more efficiently than D301 can do, and the adsorption is based on the cooperation of hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction. In the second part, poly(ethylene glycol) is supported onto two macroporous crosslinked resins with different framwork, which are polystyrene and poly(glycol methacrylate), and their adsorption properties for phenol in hexane and aqueous solution are discussed. The results indicate that the two adsorbents can adsorb phenol in hexane solution efficiently via hydrogen bonding and can also adsorb phenol from aqueous solution via hydrophobic interaction mainly.
