Due to abundance in source,low price and good integrate properties of polypropylene(PP), the output of polypropylene is rapidly going up. Polypropylene is wildly used in the field of film,fibre and plastic produce. Especially,its application gets more and more abroad with the rapid development of automobile industry. For the sake of widening range of uses and boosting the market competitiveness of polypropylene, it needs to be coated by covering materials so that its products reach more perfection.It is found that chlorinated polypropylene(CPP) which is made from polypropylene has good adhesion between PP. The quantity demanded of CPP is increasing year after year. The consumption structure of CPP are that the bonds account for 40%, the printing ink vehicles account for 40% and the others account for 20%. So, studies on CPP and technical development in CPP are very important.CPP of chlorine content from 20% to 40% is used for the bond of PP and other nonpolar plastics. CPP in low chlorine content(Cl content) is mostly studied in our lab.One made in Guangdong is CPP-GD whose chlorine content is 30% or so,the other made in Sanxi is CPP-SX whose chlorine content is 40% or so.There are three ways of using CPP for PP plastic coats. One is that CPP is directly used for undercoat, one is that the blend of CPP and other coat resins is used for bottum surface syncretic coat, the other is that maleic anhydride(MAH) was grafted to chlorinated polypropylene in order that polarity of CPP becomes strong. MAH was grafted to CPP by master Ma Xiangdong in our lab and five different in grafting yield of MAH kinds of synthesises were made.Aim at the weakness of CPP property research at present, systemic research about the properties of CPP and CPP-g-MAH was carried throuth in the thesis.A simple and easy method of determing Cl content was found and Cl content of CPP and CPP-g-MAH were exactly determined by this method.The dilution ratios of CPP and CPP-g-MAH were determined by the turbidity titration method.The solubilities of CPP and five CPP-g-MAH materials in different solvents were determined by the weighing method.At one time, viscous data of solutions in the system of CPP-toluene CPP-g-MAH-toluene and CPP-coating resin-toluene were measured. Miscibility of CPP with other common coating resins was researched by means of several methods and predicted result(the criteria a and )by dilute solution viscometry is consistentwith the result by means of co-solvent method.Surface tensions of CPP-toluene and CPP-g-MAH-toluene were measured and the regurity of surface tension changing with concentration is found.The viscosity average molecular weighs of several different CPPs were determined by dilute solution viscometry and the intrinsic viscosity was related to the viscosity of industry concentration.The densities of CPP and CPP-g-MAH were measured by specific bottle method.These studies on CPP supply basic data for use of CPP.In the end, preliminary research about emulsification of CPP was carried through. The results show that CPP can be emulsified and water-solubility latex coat could be made using sulfonated castor oil surfactant and sodium lauryl sulfate surfactant as emolsifier. The data of adhesion and tensible strength show that water paint of CPP can substitute for solvent based coating of CPP.
