The article is sponsored by the project that "the study of the types of land use based on remote sensing data ".Based on remote sensing data, the environment of Changchun City is investigated and design environment information system. Using the principal component analysis, the intrinsic information may not be lost or lost less, which make the number of new independent variable is less than intrinsic correlative variable, Studying on quantitative analysis for evaluation of environment of Changchun city based on the result, all districts are classified by using cluster analysis. The main problems are pointed out in land use; in addition, the model of sustainable utilization of environment is given. Urban environment information has strong characteristic of time. Among them, natural environment information, such as land resources, greenbelt resources, greenbelt distribution, water and soil loss, thermal island environment etc, is difficult to achieve, even can not be achieved, by means of traditional measurements which need great labor and material resources. However, remote sensing data is the reflection of nature, which has the merit of macroscopic, dynamic, exactitude and speediness, can provide dynamic data in time. Depending on its excellent observational ability, America Landsat Resource Satellites promote the fast development of remote sensing science and can make people study and observe our ambient circumstance. on the other hand, Its data is the most extensive information for earth observation and mainly apply to the fields of land resources investigation, disaster supervision, environment evaluation, region plan and urban management, etc. SPOT system includes middling–resolution remote sensing images, high authenticity and supplying period remote sensing data and tridimensional images. In the fields of real estate, traffic, insurance, retail, bank, factory and government, eighty percent of information is related to geographic information. They are used broadly in the departments of city environment plan, roadway, communication, etc.Using SPOT as the information source and other images such as TM and Aerial infrared remote sensing images as the reference, this paper is completed. During the study, by visual image interpretation we have finished the following tasks about the environment of Changchun city and its development. They consist of the chief proportion of the paper. 1.Building up object types of classified system and its sign.2.Correcting SPOT images in 1998 and pick up vector files of water, greenbelt and roadway.3.Building up environment information managing system of Changchun.4.Seleting city environment elements and evaluate urban environment.5.Indicating the strategy and the pattern of the urban environment sustainable development according to theory of sustainable development.The paper is constituted by three primary components. The first is the study of land use/cover changes of Changchun city. The second is Changchun city environment information managing system. The last is the environment evaluation of Changchun city and the study of its development pattern.The status of urban environment is surveyed on the basis of remote sensing data and urban land use is dynamically supervised by high time resolution and space resolution of remote sensing, so that the driving factors that affect land use of Changchun city are found and they can be considered as the foundation of city environment sustainable evaluation.With more and more remote sensing data acquired from remote sensing images is used the study of urban environment, the study of urban environment status and in future, it demands higher ability to memorize, dispose, manage and use a great deal of environment information. Grasping and disposing all kinds of environment information comprehensively, timely and exactly becomes the most important partition of urban environmental study.
