The 21st century is an age of composite materials, and the nanocomposite material which has now entered the age of highly development, is one of the typical representative products of the development of the composite materials. The combination of many unique physical and chemical properties of the system of nano-materials and polymer matrix offers broad room of development of the composite materials.At the present, while more fields need EVA and the demand of the market is increasing, the reports about the EVA nanocomposites is few, and the study mainly focuses on the thermal degradation and flammability of EVA/montmorillonite. The reports of the systematical study of the inorganic nano-particles filled into EVA have not seen. Our study is just a timely complementary of this field, and will play a very important role on the appliance of EVA.We systematically studied the preparation, mechanical and rheological properties, thermal behaviour of inorganic nano-particles/EVA nanocomposites which were prepared by molten blending nano-particles such as Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2 into EVA. And we also studied the relationship between structure and properties of nanocomposites by means of infrared spectrum(IR), near-infrared spectrum(NIR), scanning electron microscopy(SEM).We prepared three kinds of nanocomposites of non-modified, pro-modified EVA, modified nano-particles/EVA by molten blending, and tested tensile strength, elongation at break, rhelogical properties, melting temperature(Tm), and also explored the relations between the structures and the properties of nanocomposites by means of IR, NIR, SEM, DSC. We also investigated the infrared spectrum of nano- Al2O3 and modified nano- Al2O3. The results show that the hydroxy numbers of the modified nano- Al2O3 have decreased distinctively, and this reaches the purpose of modify; nano- Al2O3 can strengthen and toughen the EVA efficiently; tensile strength and elongation at break reach maximum at the amount of nano- Al2O3 1.5% and 0.5% respectively; nano-particles filled into EVA ameliorate rheology of EVA; the changing trends of nanocomposites' viscosity of different preparation is different; but the viscosity of nanocomposites is lower than EVA at the amount of low-filled nano- Al2O3; Tm of nanocomposites of nano-particles filled and EVA changes a little; the filling of nano- Al2O3 just has a little effect of the improvement of the process properties of nanocomposites.Three kinds of nanocomposites of non-modified, pro-modified EVA, modified nano-particles/EVA were prepared by molten blending, and tensile strength, elongation at break, rhelogical properties, melting temperature(Tm) were also tested, and the relations between the structures and the properties of nanocomposites were also investigated by means of IR, NIR, SEM, DSC.
