Taking U71Mn steel as an example, the effect of heating time, protective material and rolling deformation rate on decarburization and oxidation of the slab has been studied by observing the changes of the slab's decarburized layer during the course of heating and rolling. And the slab's decarburization prediction models in heating and rolling have been proposed through regression analysis of the experiments' results. Besides, slabs' mathematical model of heat transfer in the reheating course has been set up by analysis of slabs' reheating conditions hi reheating furnace. The transient temperature field on slabs' section has been simulated numerically by FEM, the temperature distribution of slabs in reheating furnace and the transient temperature field on its section has been calculated then. The decarburized depth of products after reheating and rolling were calculated respectively, and it is proved that the calculated results accord with the experiment's results.
