In recent years, the development and application of hi-techs are rapidly. Hi-techs such as remote sensing and geographic information system are introduced in landscape ecology researches and practices. GIS technologies are playing important role in landscape ecological analysis, evaluation, layout projects.Based on the theory of landscape ecology and GIS technology, this thesis designs and implements the CHANGPING Landscape Ecological Analysis & Layout Information System with ESRI MapObjects component and Microsoft Visual C++. This information system has following function modules: input/output, display, edit, query, statistic, landscape indexes management, landscape analysis, assistant planning modules. It is capable of assembling, storing, manipulating, displaying geographic-referenced information, such as landscape information or patch data, calculating various quantitative landscape indexes to analyze and describe landscape structure. It can provide assistant landscape analysis and planning for Changping district. The Changping Landscape Ecological Analysis & Layout Information System adopts an agile landscape index management model. Not only the information system is able to calculate some common landscape indexes, such as landscape number, patch number, area, perimeter, landscape scale, patch density, fractal dimension, diversity, dominance, isolation, fragmentation, but also base on them, can users create or expand their own-defined landscape indexes or evaluating models. The information system is instanced by the data of Changping district's Harness Desertification in Beijing&Tianjing Districts Project to validate its correctness and practicability. As a result, it is established that the information system has its own validity and can be applied to eco-environment projects of Changping district.
