In this work, the pury silicon MCM-41 and Al-MCM-41 were synthesized through hydrothermal method. The pury silicon MCM-41 was modified by AlCl3 grafting and boric acid impregnation respectively. Then the supports were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption and NH3-TPD, the results indicated that: in the range pH value 9.5~10.5, crystallization time 1~7 days, the silicon water ratio 60~200, MCM-41 could be synthesized; the MCM-41 had a typical hexagonal structure, and a very high specific surface area; Al-MCM-41 got from AlCl3 grafting kept the high crystallinity and high specific area, and got some acidity; Al-MCM-41 prepared by hydrothermal synthesis had less crystallinity, but it had more acid site than Al-MCM-41 got from AlCl3 grafting at the same silicon aluminum ratio. The noble metal catalysts supported on MCM-41 were prepared by incipent wetness method. The hydrogenation of naphthalene was chosen as model reaction, thiophene was chosen as sulfur poison, to estimate the activity and sulfur tolerance of the catalysts. The results of TPR indicated that: several reducible species existed on the catalyst after calcinations; on the Al-MCM-41 got from AlCl3 grafting, the active component had stronger interaction with support when the silicon aluminum ratio decreasing. The reaction results indicated that: Pd-Pt bimetal was more acitve than Pd or Pt at the same loading; the activity of Pd-Pt catalyst on different supports had such order, B-MCM-41
