Automatic Program Of Wire-cut Electrical Discharge Machining Based On AutoCAD Platform

WEDM (Wire-Cut Electrical Discharge Machining) is a kind of special machining way which is usually used for mold fabricating, formed cutter tooling and complex and precision shapes, etc. Along with rapid development of computer technology, the programming manner of WEDM has run to automatic program using CAD/CAM/CAPP integrated technology from simple graphic interactive program. In the light of the actual state for advanced technology levels at home and abroad, automatic program is usually realized by the methods of extending CAD system's CAPP/CAM function based on secondary empolder for existing CAD system, such as Pro/Engineer, MasterCam, CATIA, Cimatron, and so on. But these systems are usually expensive. So, it is going to become a mostly approach of special program system to empolder automatic program system based on the current CAD system, and to make it provided with CAPP/CAM function. In this thesis, AutoCAD2000 is more developed to have the function of automatic program for WEDM by using the tool of ObjectARX2000 and programming language---Visual C++ 6.0. The main research findings is as follows: The configuration and content of the DXF file which is used to save graph data are studied,the information of workpiece data for WEDM is picked up and processed according to WEDM's technics request, which includes: reordering the geomatic entities according to machining direction, wire electrode radius compensation and so on.According to the treated figure data information, the program is worked out automatically in two kinds of code: ISO standard code format―G code and 3B code, which are in common use in WEDM.Exactness of machining program can be checked with the function of preview machining contrail.The part of special contour can be programmed automatically in high speed and exactly with the function of special curve automatically drawing and program.Based on the study in this thesis, an automatic program system of Wire-Cut Electrical Discharge Machining based on AutoCAD Platform is developed, which has a fundamental programming function of WEDM.
