The investigation into the synthesis of inorganic-organic hybrid compounds based on metal oxygen cluster and organic N-donor ligands has led to the discovery of seven new organic-inorganic hybrid compounds. A 3D vanadium phosphate was also discovered. These compounds have been synthesized on the basis of hydrothermal technique and characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, XPS, EPR thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic susceptibility measurements and single crystal X-ray diffractions. The study on synthetic conditions and rules for these compounds and the exploration of relationships between structures and properties for these materials are also carried out. 1. Seven new organic-inorganic polyoxovanadates have been hydrothermally synthesized by the introduction of {MxLy} (M = transition metal ions,L = N-donor chelate ligands) fragments and structurally characterized: [Ni(2,2'-bipy)3]3[V15O36Cl]·3H2O(l) [M(1,10-phen)3]2[As8 V14O42(H2O)0.5]·nH2O (M=Cd(2),n=0.5;M=Ni(3),Co(4),n=1.5) (H2en)2[Cu(en)2(H2O)2][V10O28] · 4H2O(5) [{Cu(en)2}3V10O28] · 6H2O(6) (1,10-phen)MnV2O7(7) Compound (1) exhibit mixed-valent and discrete cagelike polyoxovanadates. Compounds (2)4 are constructed of simple [M(phen)]2+(M = Cd(2), Ni(3), Co (4)) fragments and β -As8V14O42. Compound (5) consists of [V10O28]6- monomers, [Cu(en)2(H2O)2]2+, ethylenediamine cations and H2O molecules via interesting hydrogen-bonding. Compound (6) constructed from an isopolyanion [V10O28]6- as building block and [Cu (en)2]2+ as linker provides the first example of an extended structure based on decavanadate clusters and transition metal complexes with organic ligands.Compound (7) gave a novel two-dimensional layered polyoxovanadate, which was constructed from {V2O6} chains linked by Mn(o-phen) complex fragments. 2. An unprecedented three-dimensional framework vanadium phosphate. (H3O)8[V10O18(PO4)4(H2O)](8) Compound (8) was constituted by mixed-valence decavanadate ion [PVⅣ8 VⅤ2 O26(H2O)] as a building block which is bridged by PO4 tetrahedra leading to a three-dimensional neutral network.
