The fast-growing popular( Populus tomentosa ) was used as raw material to produce glue-lumber with modified butadiene-strene copolymer latex and urea-formaldehyde resin . The properties of the product including modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE) , shear strength and glueline delamination were measured and the reasonable technology parameters were obtained : hot press time: 50s/mm; temperature: 120℃; compressing rate:20%; glue mixture rate: 50 : 50. The results show that: modified butadiene-styrene copolymer latex can be used to manufacture glue-lumber. Moreover, the properties of water-resistance and tenacity of gluing layer were improved while the other properties keeping unchanged. The technologies of veneer dyeing , fire-retardant and gluing were studied with orthogonal test design. The properties of glue-lumber were tested and the reasonable technical parameters were determined. The results show that: 1) It is feasible for wood dyeing and fire-retardant simultaneously. 2) The concentration of fire-retardant is positively to the oxygen index and negatively to shear strength, MOR, MOE of the products; other factors have effect on the quality of glue-lumber at different degrees; 3) The optimal technical parameters are: dyeing concentration: 0.3%, fire retarding concentration: 15%, hot press time: 50s/mm, temperature: 150 ℃, compression rate: 20%.
