| The experiment of torsion is widely adopted to test the mechanical capability of materials and to check up the quality of materials. The focus of the experimentation of torsion is measuring torque and torsional angle Φ, the mechanical parameter ,,,,etc which can be attained by illustration or calculation. The paper sums up various methods of torque measuring. The author chooses the equilibrant method after analyzing advantages and disadvantages of various methods. Photoelectric coder is used to measure the torsional angle. At the same time VI(Virtual Instrument) technique and the electro-test technique are introduced for experimentation of torsion to heighten the metrical precision and to collect and manage the testing data automatically. Torque is measured by equilibrant method in virtue of torque transducer and torsional angle is measured in virtue of photoelectric coder on conventional experimental machine. Based on theory of strain electro-test and VI technique, the virtual instrument is designed and experimentation of torsion is upgraded. Then, precise chart of torque-angle relation can be attained in experiment, the data from deformation to breakage is gained and deformation velocity is displayed. The experimental result is more accurate and more intuitionistic than before. Hardware is connected to computer by USB communication method which is more convenient than other methods. The program is edited by LabVIEW, which makes the interface more friendly. In sum, those methods supply a new idea and a convenient means for the study of mechanical capability of materials. The new experiment method of torsion is efficiently applied in the laboratory of some college. |
