Cold forging is the typical volume forming procedure. Forging technology which is a high efficiency, high quality, low consumption and close formation technology has rapidly developed in the field of metal formation and widely applied in the production. The development of automobile procedure leads the development of close formation technology .But the forging technology has not been industrialized in our country for a long time. Compared with the industrialized country, there is a great gap and a few persons with ability in the field, which can not adapt to the developing close forging market. A large number of colleges or universities have set up forging technology curriculum. It has two characteristics. One is strong practice, the other is doughtily application.The cold forging procedure and die design courseware helps and instructs people who engaged in cold forging die design to understand cold forging process and die design profoundly. The main content of this research includes system structure designing, teaching designing, script designing, multimedia data creating and integrating. When we design this courseware's control system, the multimedia information framework, navigation tactic and interface should be thought first. This courseware provides many navigation paths using buttons, hot spots, directions links and hypertexts. On one hand, this kind of design can provide the software a friendly interface, on the other hand, it can help learners understand the related information, thus increases the speed of transformation information and deepens the learner's understanding. We give careful consideration to the layout of various media data on each interface, and try to make this software easy to use for learners. During designing this courseware, the multimedia data creation is the most important part. Media data, such as text, graphic, image, video and animation have many kinds of expression methods. In this courseware, we use AutoCAD to design two-dimension model and create two-dimension animation by Flash. IPA is used to create three-dimension animation on the basis of three-dimension model creating by Solidworks. This can more thoroughly express the related contents. All media data are edited and integrated using Authorware software, at same time the voice and the video can be smartly controlled by Authorware.Extrusion force is the basic of designing die and choosing equipment. But calculation of extrusion force is hard because of a lot of influencing factors. In this paper, the intelligent calculation of extrusion force software is developed by MATLAB6.5, which has a friendly user interface. Using this software, intelligent extrusion force calculation and process parameters optimization could be achieved, and extrusion force evaluation by experience is replaced by numerical calculation. Compared with the traditional method, the relative error of this software is less than 5%.
