Laser welding is used in all kinds of scope in industry because it has many good qualities. The density of laser energy is very high; the welding seam is deep and narrow; the distortion and heat influenced zone are small; the texture of welding seam is compact; laser welding can be carried out in automatically easily. So the laser-welding equipment with high rate of function and price has a vast prospect of market and it can bring huge economic returns and social effect. Then we carry on the study and development on laser welding equipment with high beam quality.There are six sections in the paper: (1)Introduction. (2)The influence of beam's character to deep penetration welding. (3)The design to discharge structure and resonator of laser. (4)The choices to the way of guide-light and focusing. (5)The study on laser deep penetration welding experiment. (6)Summary.Summarized the background and development of laser welding. The task and significance of the study were given.Introduced the hole-character of laser deep penetration welding and the influence of beam's character to it. The key points are the influences of M2 parameter to the beam behavior and Kf parameter to welding quality in laser deep penetration welding.Designed a kind of five-folded resonator and a kind of discharge structure with muti-pin-pane. The key point is the parameter's choice of the optical cell. Finally, the output parameters of laser were tested. For example: output power and its fluctuation, the efficiency from electricity to light, the mode and divergent angle of output beam. Designed a kind of light-switch with three-workspace, which can use the laser output energy properly and improve the efficiency; Analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of several kinds of focusing way in laser processing. The focusing results were simulated with ZEMAX. Designed a kind of focusing way with metal parabolic reflector in order to obtain good focusing effect. The gears in automobile,gear-box and thick plates have been welded. The primary factors affected welding depth and width have been studied, for example: welding power,speed,defocusing parameter and flow parameter. Meanwhile, analyzed the micro-hard and microstructure of welding work pieces. As the result of the experiment, technical parameter is a key to obtain good welding result.Summarized the total research work.
