DOPO-HQ was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, MS ,1H-NMR and 31P-NMR.A series of novel phosphorus-containing poly (aryl ether ketone )s derivd from 2-(6-oxide-6H-dibenz(c, e) ( 1,2)oxaphosphorin-6-yl)-1,4-dihydroxyphenylene (DOPO-HQ) , 4, 4'-diflourodiphenylketon, HQ and bisphenol-A were synthesized by solution polycondensation. Tetramethylenesulfone was used as solvent, anhydrous potassium acted as catalyzer, and toluene served as azeotrope. The chain structure of these polymers was studied by means of FT-IR, TGA ,differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) techniques. Such properties as viscosity, thermal behavior were also investigated. With the method of OZWA and Kissinger ,we get the average activation energy of thermal degradation and discuss the model of it.The synthesized polymers not only have relatively high molecular weight,but also exhibited high glass-transition temperatures together with excellent thermooxidative stability and even the excellent flame retardancy is found.This can magnify the range of its use and show the new way to study snd research the advanced Paek ,by inducting large phosphorus-containing side-group into the backbones.In this paper, we also synthesized a kind of retardant BCPPO, and the structure of BCPPO and intermediate product BMPPS were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 31P-NMR, respectively. Compared with the reported methods, purification processes of BMPPS and BCPPO were optimized in our study.
