In order to study the application of metal oxide with high performance for air electrode, many metal oxide electrocatalysts are prepared with nickel nitrate, iron nitrate, manganese nitrate, cobalt nitrate, copper nitrate and so on, and we produce unitary, binary and ternary catalytic materials that are used in air electrode through heat treatment.Through the examination of particle diameter we study the state of distribution of catalyst in active carbon. By method of steady polarization curve and life test of air electrode we investigate the effect of catalysts for air electrode. Meantime we also study the performance of electrode and catalytic active by means of acidification and heat treatment with different temperature.The results show that the catalytic active of MnO2 behave best in the unitary metal oxide, the catalytic active of Mn3CoO7 exhibit utmost in the binary metal oxide, and the greatest catalytic active in the ternary metal oxide is Mn4Co2FeO11.5. Among all metal oxide air electrode with catalyst of Mn4Co2FeO11.5 behave minimum extent of polarization, which polarization potential only attained to -0.1438V when the current density is 200 mA cm-2, and the experiment of electrolysis reveal that the longevity of air electrode with catalyst of Mn4Co2FeO11.5 attain to above 900h and potential have little variety, which demonstrate the excellently integrated electrochemical performance of the air electrode.Meantime, we optimize the technics of preparation through electrochemical investigation. The results show that the baking temperature is increased with the increase of the component of raw material. Moreover the degree of polarization is declined, and the catalytic active of catalyst and the electrochemical performance of air electrode are enhanced obviously after acidification.Through the following research we select several excellent metal oxide electrocatalysts that are applied to air electrode. Furthermore metal oxide electrocatalyst that we manufacture will beattracted more attention to exploitation and utilization because of its low cost, simple process of preparation and high catalytic active.
