The structure of porphyrin consists of four pyrrole units linked by four methane bridges. The conjugated porphyrin macrocycle is an aromatic system containing 18 pi electrons.A member of metals can be inserted into the porphyrin cavity by using various metal salts. In the UV-vis absorption spectra, the highly conjugated porphyrin macrocycle shows intense absorption at higher wavelengths(450-700nm). The porphyrin ring is very stable to light and heat. The porphyrin has many special physical behaviors, chemical behaviors and other functional behaviors. The porphyrin has been concerned and applied at biological chemistry, medical chemistry, analytical chemistry, photochemistry, catalysis and material science, etc.porphyrin and its derivatives were excellent organic semiconductor materials and they were received considerable attention in recent years. The porphyrin dimmer linked with succinyloxy chains at para position of two phenyl rings have been synthesized and characterized by UV-vis, IR, 'H NMR and MS, etc. From the UV-vis spectra, we concluded that the Q band of the free base consists of four absorption peaks. After metal entered the body of porphyrin, because of inceasing of the symmetry, the Q band decreases and absorption frequencies shifts. In the IR spectra, the mian absorption bands are assigned. The characterized absorption bands of carbonyl group appears at 1760, 1735cm-1. The band 3310, 968cm-1 of N-H stretching vibration disappear upon complexes. From the 'H NMR spectra,we found the sidgnal peak at 3.36ppm of the hydrogen band between of two ester carbonyl group appears. This proves the existing of the succinyloxy. Meanwhile, in the complexes, the signal peak of N-H band disappears. This indicates that the free base porphyrin coordinated with transition metal ion and formed metal porphyrin complexe. From the molar conductance date and reference, the date of legends and Co,Ni,Cu,Zn complexes are very low, it is clear that these compounds show none electrolytic behavior. But the values of Mn,Fe complexes are high, therefore they are 1:1 electrolytic complexes.
