Natural water resources that can be exploited in the earth are extremely limited. Nowadays, along with the rapid development of industrial and agriculture, water shortage in many countries and areas due to resources deficiency is increasingly protuberant. Therefore, the strategy on municipal sewage reclamation and reuse will be one of the most important approaches to solve water shortage. Among the sewage reusing ways, groundwater recharge is not only available but economical as well.Municipal sewage contains a lower level of remains after the biochemical processes in the sewage treatment plant. Being recharged directly, it can pollute water resource underground. So a series of advanced treatments are necessary. In this research, nitrogen and phosphorus in raw sewage is firstly removed by biochemical process in SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) system. The effluent is received by chemical coagulation for further treatment, and then flows to a column filled with sand to remove suspended solids and a column full of activated carbon to absorb some soluble organic materials. Sterilization is carried out next to eliminate pathogen. When the effluent reaches a predetermined level that attain to the standard of groundwater recharge, it is poured into a column filled with soil. Thus the sewage can be processed comprehensively. The research presents the flow diagram of further treatment of municipal sewage drainage and groundwater recharge. The feasibility of groundwater recharge is tested. Primary technical parameters are defined that they provide referenced information for practical application.
