In this thesis, the settling efficiency of the activated sludge flocs and ameliorating the life activity of microorganism in the activated sludge flocs with the high voltage electrostatic field (HVEF) treatment is studied. It mainly includes aspects as follows: (1)Settling efficiency of the activated sludge flocs by means of HVEF. The experiment of settling cask confirms HVEF can impact the settling efficiency of activated sludge flocs, and the experiment shows that the settling effects are mainly influenced by suspended solids(SS), sludge volume index (SVI), effective length of the electrode, voltage of the power supply. The orthogonal trial indicates that the degree of every factor affected settling efficiency of the activated sludge flocs, and experiment shows that the first factor influencing settling efficiency is suspended solids(SS), the second is the effective length of the electrode, the third is the voltage of the power supply, the last is the sludge volume index (SVI). The settling efficiency of the activated sludge flocs impacted by pH of sample, electrical conductivity of sample and the coagulant is not clear. It is also found that after HVEF treament, oxygen uptake rate (OUR) and pH increase while electrical conductivity and turbidity decreases in the experiment. All of the experimental phenomena show that HVEF can ameliorate the life activity of microorganism in activated sludge flocs. (2)Through the force analysis of the activated sludge particulates and caculateing all kinds of force, including gravity, electric field force, dielectrophoretic force and sticky force, it is found that the mainly forces affecting the settling velocity of the activated sludge particulate consist of gravity, electric field force, dielectrophoretic force and sticky force, and table a proposal to increase the efficiency of settling through increasing voltage of the power supply and enlarge the coulomb of the activated sludge particulate. (3)HVEF can ameliorate the life activity of microorganism in the activated sludge flocs. The absorption capability of the activated sludge flocs can increase by 20 percent, oxygen uptake rate (OUR) can increase by about 25 percent. The capability of absorption and biodegradation is relative to the treatment time and treatment voltage of power supply, the relationship between the treatment voltage and the treatment time is inverse proportion.
