In this paper, for the purpose of improving the silk properties, graft copolymerization of cationic compound on silk fiber was studied. 2,2'-Azo-bis-isobutylonitrile(AIBN),Potassium Persul phate(KPS) ,Benzoyl peroxide(BPO) and plasma treatment were used to initiate graft copolymerization between cationic compound and silk fiber. And other influences of initiator concentration, radiation dose, compound concentration, pH value, temperature and reaction time of graft copomerization were shown and optimized method can be derived from the experiment results. The physical properties of control and grafted silk were tested to find the changes of grafted silk fiber. And other analysis method like infrared spectroscopy(IR), wide-angle X-ray diffraction patterns(WAXD), scanning electron micrograph photographs(SEM) and amino acid analysis method were done to study the graft copolymerization and verify reaction mechanism. This experiment showed that the cationic compound we used has good antibacterial effect on silk fiber.
