As a kind of professional steel, the high carbon-Cr contented bearing steel is mostgrindingly required for its quality. But in continuous casting process it can easily producedefects, such as cracks, central carbon segregation, porosity of the bloom for the highcarbon-alloy content. So the development of continuous casting technology of it hasincreasing very slowly. The secondary cooling is of central importance in continuous casting process, whichhas a significant influence on cracks and other defects. So reasonable secondary coolingsystem is the guarantee for high quality billet producing. In Steel-making plant, Iron-Steel Co. of Shi Jiazhuang, due to the fault of secondarycooling system, the continuous casting produced GCr15 often appear defects mentionedabove. To ensure high productivity and good quality, the studies for optimization ofsecondary cooling system is necessary. Rectify and optimization of the parameters forsecondary zone heat transmitting can improve quality and productivity of billet. The study adopted the famous finite-element method software ANSYS to simulateheat transmitting and stress situations in the course of billet solidification. And the modelsuccessfully simulated the transformation of temperature and stress field, also it simulatedthe billet shell and the length of liquid-core.The paper has studied the parameters whichinfluence on heat and stress transmitting. And the result give the academic basics forcasting speed improving and defects reducing. The study on high temperature mechanics properties get the third fragility zone ofGCr15, which offered academic reference for rectifying temperature.Using the model mentioned above attached high temperature properties of GCr15,study set the surface billet object temperatures in casting process, and calculated the bestwater quantity for each loop in steady situation. The next, the study certified reasonableparameters for secondary cooling system, and regress the relation of water quantitybetween casting speed and casting temperature. At last, the paper studied the unsteady-state secondary water cooling controllingsystem, and analyzed it logically.
