Aluminate has been used widely as host material of laser and luminescent material because it it has a good temperature conductivity, mechanical strength and chemical character which can dope different rare elements easily. But the aluminate materials were prepared by solid state reaction conventionally, which is fired in the range of 1600-1800℃, whose period is too long. The final size of product is too large and need to be ground to obtain fine phosphors that cause the decreasing of the luminescent efficiency. Recently, phosphors of aluminate were prepared by hydrothermal processing, combustion syntheses, microwave heating method, and so on. In this dissertation, we prepared the phosphor of YAG:Tb, Ce, Gd by Sol-Gel technique, analyzed the factors of firing and discussed the luminescent character with the aids of the measure methods such TG/DSC, XRD, IR Spectra, PL Performance, and so on. The main work is as follows:The theory of plasma display panel (PDP), principle of photoluminescence (PL) and methods of synthesis were specified. Some factors in the Sol-Gel process such as the PH value of system, water-bath temperature were discussed. The mechanism and factors of influence on firing were analyzed in this paper. The change of PL performance was discussed in detail through doping different contents of Gd in host structure of YAG:Tb,Ce.The result shows that the size of powder is in the rage of 40~70nm, and increase with the increasing of sintered temperature and time. The intensity of luminescence can attain maximum when the ratio betweenTb3+ and Gd3+ is 3:1. In the mean time, the luminescent intensity will strengthen with the increasing of sintered temperature and time.
