The coordination compounds of transition metals with Schiff-bases are more and more important as their various structures and extensive uses in the field of catalysis, bioactivity, and material etc. Therefore, we designed and synthesized some new Schiff base ligands and their complexes of transition metals in the paper.The main work is as follows:1. A schiff base ligand (HL1) and eight corresponding complexes with transition metal ion Fe3+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ have been designed and synthesized. Among them three single crystals of complexes[Zn2(Ci3H11N2O)2(CH3COO)2], [Cu(C13HnN2O)Cl] and [Cu(C13H11N2O)(H2O)]·NO3·H2O were obtained. These complexes are characterized by IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, Molar conductance, Cyclic voltammogram and structural analysis. The structural analysis of complex[Zn2(C13H11 N2CO2 (CH3COO)2] shows that it is a new acetate-bridged binuclear Zn(II) complex. There are strong π-π stacking interaction between molecules resulted in two-dimensional network structure. In complex [Cu(C13H11N2O)Cl], one-dimensional chain structure was formed by strong π-π stacking interaction between molecules. In complex [Cu(C13H11N2O)Cl], There are also strong π-π stacking interaction and strong hydrogen bond between molecules which resulted in three -dimensional network stereo structure.2. A new schiff base ligand (HL2) and five corresponding complexes with transition metal ion Fe3+, Co3+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ have been designed and synthesized. These complexes are characterized by IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, Molar conductance, Cyclic voltammogram. Anew compound [Zn(acac)(phen)2]·C104 has been obtained unexpectedly by dissolved compound [Zn(C11H13N2O)(H2O)]·C104 in methanol, which indicated that the schiff base ligand (HL2) is unstable.3. A new schiff base ligand (L3) and three corresponding complexes with transition metal ion Fe3+, Co2+ and Cu2+ have been designed and synthesized. Thesecomplexes are characterized by IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, Molar conductance, and Cyclic voltammogram.4. Six new complexes were synthesized by the reaction of 2-aminomethyl-pyridine and metal diacid salts, in which one single crystal [(amp)2(tpa)Zn(H2O)2] was obtained. These complexes are characterized by IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, Molar conductance, Cyclic voltammogram. The structural analysis of [(amp)2 (tpa)Zn(H2O)2] shows that there exist complicated strong hydrogen bonds resulted in three-dimensional stereo structure.Three complexes [Cu(amp)2(H2O)2]-Cl2, [Cu(amp)2(NO3)2] and [Zn(C6N2H8)2] (NO3)2 of 2-aminomethylpyridine with metal ions were also obtained. Single-crystal structure analysis show that the three complexes are similar. In former two, there are strong hydrogen bonds between molecules resulted in two-dimensional network structure, while in the later, there is not.
