Rock desertification causes such environmental and social problems asregional ecological deterioration and regional poverty. The Control work of rockdesertification helps guarantee national ecological safety, decrease the regionalpoverty gap and support social harmony. Establishing scientifically an integratedcontrol programming of rock desertification is the premise and guarantee to carryout the control work smoothly. With Huajiang area as the studying area, on the basis of the theories of systemengineering, human-land relationship, sustainable development, ecologicaleconomics and regional location, and by the means of system engineering, physicalzoning, GIS and RS, this paper, combined with field work and some practical work,studies the technique route and method of establishing an integrated controlprogramming of rock desertification, summaries the control models in differentkarst rock desertification areas and studies the methods of integrated controlzoning of rock desertification and its engineering layout, and its guaranteemeasures. There exist the possibility, the chronicity and the hardship in controlling rockdesertification. With the governments attaching importance to the control work,techniques being improved, diversity of karst environment, good conditions ofwater and heat, and the urgency of residents, it provides the possibility for rockdesertification control. Fragile ecological environment, small environmentalcapacity, low land carrying capacity and weak anti-interference ability make thecontrol work with the chronicity and the hardship. So establishing scientifically anintegrated control programming of rock desertification should handle the maindirection and execute the targets in instalments and phases. The final target of rock desertification control is ecological reconstruction andregional anti-poverty, so ecology-first is one of principles in the programming. Inaddition, the control programming should follow the maneuverability principle, thesustainable development principle and the public participation principle, payingattention to the link work of data collection, report writing, project valuation andapplication. Present analysis and future prediction are the important means andnecessary processes to establish scientifically an integrated control programmingof rock desertification, the credibility of whose results is depended on thecompleteness and veracity of the data. So it is very necessary to carry out thescientific processing and analysis to the original data. Selecting a good control model of rock desertification is a key to control workand there are different control models in different rock desertification areas. Theintegrated control of karst river valleys, the ecological restoration of fragile karstenvironment, the ecological integrated control of karst rock desertification, theecological agricultural development, the ecological livestock development, theecological environmental migration, the participant community construction ofecology and economy, the garden ecological economy construction, the ecologicaltourism of karst, natural reserve construction and small town construction aredifferent valid models of controlling karst rock desertification.Based on top researches of national science and technology, the ecologicalcontrol model of "pepper woods plus pigs plus marsh gas" is typical for Huajiangarea with Huajiang demonstration zone as the core. This model of "planting plusfarming plus village energy construction" emphasizes selecting farming speciesaccording to the actual situation in different areas, which is suitable for Huajiangarea including its plateau area and canyon area. Now, there are no establishing rules in nation for the control programming ofrock desertification. Based on practical work, this paper thinks that systematismand integration are the core in the programming.
