The combination technology of high voltage pulsed discharge and ozone utilizes the synergism of the two methods to produce hydroxyl radicals hydroxyl can decompose the organic pollutants rapidly at high efficiency. The technology can degrade the complex toxic molecules into simpler and less toxic molecules, even CO2 and H2O in order to improve the biodegradability. It has a good application prospect in the field of organic wastewater classification treatment. This paper investigated the decomposition of benzoic acid to determine the optimum experimental conditions: the flow rate of oxygen was 80L/h, the pulse frequency was 80 Hz, the distance between the two electrodes was 20mm, the pH value of the solution was 9. Then we carried out the further experiment on hydroquinone. When the treatment time was 120min, the degradation efficiency of CODcr and TOC reached 84.2% and 75.7% respectively, and B/C value increased from 0.03 to 0.13. Therefore, the combination of high voltage pulsed discharge and ozone can be utilized as the pre-treatment for wastewater. The degradation efficiency by combination treatment was higher than that by separate treatment, so the synergism of high voltage pulsed discharge and ozone was validated. When high voltage pulsed discharge and ozone were utilized to treat the wastewater together, the pulsed discharge could from plasma channel, and ozone was the supply source of hydroxyl radical, so it could generate more hydroxyl radicals in the process. Also the pulsed discharge could improve the using efficiency of ozone. Therefore, high voltage pulsed discharge and ozone has a good synergism.Containing inorganic salt is an universal characteristic in wastewater emitted from pharmacy and chemical industry. This paper indicated that: when the concentration of NaCl was on 1000mg/L, it was propitious to increase the degradation efficiency of hydroquinone. With the increasing of the salinity, the degradation efficiency of hydroquinone came down.
