Most of the traditional flame rctardant coatings contains solvent (organic solvent especially), which is dangerous for environment and human being. The common radiation curable coatings are solvent free, and features high effectiveness, energy saving and environmental friendly, but they are inflammable. In this paper, a kind of radiation curable flame retardant coating was developed, which is flame retardant and has the advantages of common radiation curable coatings.Four kinds of phosphorus containing alcohols were synthesized by dialkyl phosphate and epoxy compound. React these alcohols with TDI and HLA, a series of flame retardant oligomers were synthesized, including six kinds of phosphorus containing photosensitive polyurethane acrylates (P-PUA) and three kinds of phosphorus containing epoxy resin urethane aerylate (P-EUA). The influence of reaction temperature, reaction time, the dosage of catalyst, the molar ratio of the materials on the reaction were discussed.Based on the phosphorus containing oligomers, mixing appropriate initiator, active thinner and the other elements, the formula of the flame retardant coating was obtained. The effect of each ingredient on the foundational properties, photosensitivity and flammability was studied. It was found that, the most appropriate dosage of either initiator or active amine in the formula was 5%. The mixture of the two-functional group monomer and three-functional group monomer was used as active thinner and the appropriate ratio of the two kind of monomer was 3:1.
