With the competition of motor business becomes more and more furious throughout the world, the key wins the competition is to produce new patterns in short term, so the technology making moulds for vehicle body is a focus of competition. In this dissertation, a rapid manufacture technique for rough moulds surface based on the principle of discretization is proposed. A in-depth study of this technology is also discussed.By application of this technology, rough moulds are produced as follows without traditional foundry technics: Fixing the Discrete Surface Mould (DSM) in the press machine, forming heated thick steel plate into mould surface by the DSM, and then welding the formed mould surface into the mould bracket. DSM and the manipulator for the pin-lifts of DSM are key equipment in this technology. Large numbers of pin-lifts are close-knit and regularly located in the top pedestal and the bottom pedestal of DSM. Changing the height of pin-lifts by adjusting the screw thread, the pin-lifts can simulate various surface. Research the distortion of metal from microcosmic and macrocosmos. Some conclusions can be gained by discussing temperature and velocity of distortion to the effect of distortion and its stress, which is the reference to choosing the temperature and the velocity in practice. Based on the principle of discretization to manufacture rough mould surface, a new stagger layout of pin-lifts is put forward. Through the analysis and optimization of the rat of mould surface discretization, the space between pin-lifts, the distance of stagger layout. The rat of mould surface discretization in the technology can be improved on the condition of not increasing its economic and technical cost,In other words, the precision of imitation and manufacture can be improved as also. Through the systemic analysis of warp in the technology, the source of warp, the size of warp, the way of avoiding warp are discussed in deep research. After the optimization, the precision of mould surface can be improved into another new level. As a result, the overplus of rough surface to milling machine and the cost are decreased. Most important, the result is a valuable reference to choosing the thick of rough plate. This technology has been appling in producing rough mould surface for the body of rhombic conception vehicle which tested the well effect of the technology in practice.
