Activated sludge process's merit has great disposal efficiency and low operates expenses. So it uses mostly in municipal wastewater treatment plant, but the design and operation of activated sludge process depend on experience very much. The purpose of the task is setting up activated sludge mechanism mathematic model. And it can instruct practice with theory and reduce the reliance on experience.Currently, all researchers have focused their all energy on the ASMl of IAWQ, and almost nobody have paid any energy on the following model ASM2, in which the remove of Phosphorus is included. Because of the absence of Phosphorus Removal, ASMl has obvious limitation and it prevents ASM1's farther development, especially in now days of more attention put on the remove of Phosphorus. Just for this, we should pay more attention on the research of ASM2, build the suitable model for factual technics, and put it into actualizes on wastewater treatment plant.Firstly, this paper introduces the development and application domestic and international activated sludge model. It introduced more powerful mechanism model, stable state model and dynamic model one by one, and then the principle&process of activated sludge process including nitrogen and phosphorus removal are reviewed detailed, meanwhile the typical technics(A~2/O) of activated sludge process is introduced.Secondly, the assumption method of activated sludge model is discussed, and based on the solid flux concept and a mass balance around each layer expatiate a one-dimensional settler model of secondary clarifier, then establish the model of secondary clarifier on the base of the activated sludge model(ASM2). Through giving some assumptions, a model including secondary clarifier is constructed on the A~2/O process, and then simulates it.Thirdly, in order to presenting the factual situations of sewage plant, the analysis of stoichiometric coefficients is required. Considering the sensitive and temperature effect, the coefficients are calibrated. Then construct a function that can be using in the real-time control of sewage plant.Finally, introduce the development of process software of activated sludge model and a developing process software which author is involved in.
