The patch technology of external pipeline corrosion coating is one of keytechniques which depends the success of buried pipeline coating. Its quality directlyinfluences the life of coating. And now, pipeline coating include Fusion BondedEpoxy (FBE for short), Triple-Layer Polyethylene (PE for short), Double-Layer FBE,and Coal Tar Enamel. Patch materials include Heat Shrink Sleeve/Tape, Cold/HeatTape, Powder Painting, and Liquid Paint. There are different functions in the way ofconstruction and detection.According four kinds of coating technical characters of FBE, Triple-Layer PE,Double-Layer FBE, and Coal Tar Enamel which were used in long-distance oil andgas pipeline transportation, the research selected five kinds of coating patch materialssuch as heat shrink sleeve/tape, epoxy powder painting, liquid epoxy, liquid polyesterpaint, and coal tar enamel heat tape including 22 diverse productions, made a series ofpatch experiments,and studied from material performance, construction technics, andpatch detection. Its methods of hermeticity experiments offer a means which hasstrong scientificity and practicability. The research made a conclusion in applicabilitybetween pipe coating material and five kinds of coating patch materials. Moreover itconstitute technical optimization rule of coating patch on the base of analyzing a greatdeal of data, and offers foundation to selection of coating patch materials.
