The anodic film's coloring technique and properties of the biomedical titanium andtitanium alloys (Ti-5Al-2.5Fe and Ti-6Al-7Nb) were investigated in this paper. Testswere conducted to determine the best processing parameters.X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM),metallographic microscope, MH-6 microhardness and surface roughness testers wereused to analyze the structures and behaviors of anodic oxidation film.To enhance the performance of anodic oxidation film, electrolyte was studied andconfigured. Special post treatment and thermal oxidation techniques were designed tostabilize the oxidation film. Optimized process was used and therefore the sampleswith smooth, uniform and dense film and improved hardness, wear resistance andadhesion were obtained. It was found that the anodic forming potential is the most important affectingfactor of the anodic oxidation process parameters. The colors of the films changeregularly with different electrolysis potentials. At the same time, the composition, theconcentration of electrolytes, and the oxidation time exert different effects on anodicoxidation process.PARSTAT2263 electrochemical instrument was used in this study to test corrosionbehavior of the samples in Hank's solution. The results clearly indicated that theanodic film exhibited an excellent corrosion resistance.
