| Electroplated diamond tools should present different machining characteristicsaccording to different varieties of hard and brittle materials. The manufacturingtechnologies of tools are needed to be studied to produce suitable tools, which canmachine different materials with high efficiency and quality.Through grinding experiments of natrium-calcium glass, machiningcharacteristics of electroplated diamond tools are researched. Influences of machiningparameters on tool wear are in order of vc>vf>ap . Wear of tools include two aspects, diamond grits and bond. Diamond grits were gradually crashed, smoothed anddislodged. While wear of bond was indicated by deeper craters in front of diamondgrits, and shallow groove two sides of diamond grits. With grinding processes, thebond began to participate in machining operation, and color of glass swarf changedfrom white to black.Through performance measurement, bond structure observation and glassdrilling hole experiment, bond of electroplated diamond tools are studied. Researchresults show that electroplated diamond tools with bright nickel bond are adequate tomachine of glass with better bond structure and machining performance. Electroplateddiamond tools with bright nickel can machine glass with high efficiency and quality. Moreover, though 200℃ heat treatment, tools with bright nickel bond would have thebest machining performance. The electroplated diamond tools with high performancecan be obtained by reasonable bond selection and fabrication processing design. |
