By investigating internal and external separating technique and equipment, advantage anddisadvantage were compared in existing separators. Then inclined oil-water separator for highwater percentage was developed. On the base of Navier-Stroke equation, the forces acting on droplet were studied. Thensettling velocity model of drop was calculated. Analyzing separating models, drop efficiencymodel was selected for more suitable predicting separating results and determining the structureparameters. According to characteristic of inclined separator, separating efficiency equation wasestablished. Comparing efficiency of coalesce-plates in inclined separators with that inhorizontal separators, The efficiency of coalesce-plates in inclined separator is more than that inhorizontal. separator. So inclined separator was more efficacious Application procedure wasprogrammed according to efficiency equation. Efficiency of the inclined separator wascalculated according to different parameters of oil and .water and inclined separator. Influencingfactors of separating efficiency were analyzed.Drops coalescence was researched. According to velocity profile of oil layer and water andforces acting on drop and motion of drop, coalescence time model of a drop on tricking filmlayer was founded. Coalescence time is computed. By studying effecting factors, it concludedthat some inclination angles increased influx of tricking film by shortening coalescence time andreducing surfactant effect on coalescence. So designed influx of separator increased .Thehandling capacity of separator increased. With increasing of handling capacity, the problem thatseparator loading was too much was resolved. Finally, merit of inclined separator was concluded, according to the characteristic.
