Nitrogen is one of the most important materials which induce water body eutrophication and contamination. Several traditional wastewater treatment technology is low in nitrogen removal efficiency. The concentration of nitrogen is so high that the effluent unable to reach outlet water quality standard, it also do harm to our health and influence the development of economy. How to remove nitrogen rationally is a hard difficult which waste-water treatment researchers must conquer now days.Cyclic Activated Sludge System is a kind of improvement on SBR. It has the merits of simple process, small area, easy control, flexible operation, easy to adapt the water quantitative and water quality, removal of nitrogen and removal phosphorus simultaneous etc. In now days, CASS have applied extensively in various industrial wastewater and city sewage. In present society, water quality becoming more and more complex, CASS is one of biological technology which with bright future application. This experiment studied the effect of CASS on the nitrogen removal, dissolved oxygen, microorganism density, PH, the ratio of water COD/NH3-N in enter reflux and hydraulic residence time and etc in lab. The proper operation parameters is: DO>2. 5mg/L, MLSS=3500-4000mg/L, PH=7. 5-8. 0, enter the water ratio of COD/NH3-N in 5-6, HRT=16h and R=l. Causes and countermeasures of sludge bulking , floating and foaming occurred in activated sludge culture are discussed in the paper.
