| The preparation of hydrophobic nano-silica and its application in polyester coating were researched in this paper.In the processes of preparation nano-silica, THF solution of nano-silica was prepared by extracting method, and then THF was evaporated with alcohol by distillation. The surface of nano-silica was esterified by alcohol in the period of Refluxed timeThe effect to the properties of nano-silica was discussed with the sorts of alcohols, PH, time of reaction, and WD-30. The stability property of nano-silica was taken by sedimentation method and the stability in room temperature. The disperse property was analyzed by TEM. And the Particle diameter distributing was analyzed by Zetasizer (Nano-series) Nano-s. At last we tried to discuss the reacting mechanism by Infrared spectrum and TG curves.It was proved that when PH=3, nano-silica which modified by (n-)butanol, was Stability, uniformity ,clarity. The average size of nano-silica was about 140nm, and the content of nano-silica could be up to 35%. nano-silica which modified by WD-30 dispersed uniformity ,clarity, and the average size was about 100 nm. nano-silica powder which silylated by trimethylchlorosilane could dispersed in organic solvent, and the solution was Stability, uniformity ,clarity with average size of 30 nm.Further more, we discussd the affect of nano-silica to the rigidity, wear-resisting, absorb performance of the ultraviolet radiation, transmission of visible light and so on. It was proved that nano-silica alcohol solution could be dispersed uniformly in the composite film, which led to higher rigidity ,wear-resisting performance, the absorb performance of the ultraviolet radiation and had no affect to the transmission of visible light.
