Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is an octadeca-dienoic acid (18:2) with conjugated double bonds. It has gained considerable attention because of its ancarcinogenic, cholesterol-depression, and growth-promoting properties. Some techniques to synthesize CLA by chemical and biological processes have been proposed abroad, however,they are still very little in China.In this work, the biological synthesis for CLA was studied, including screening of propionibacteria strain producing conjugated linoleic acid,the study on the transformation and high cell density culture of propionibacteria, and the transformation technics of mixed microorganism and so on.Several propionibacteria were separated from silages and cheese.
