The paper emphasizes on the study of the hydroxyl complexed iron pole supported montmorillonite to absorb the harmful groups of the main pollutant EDTA-Cu out of wastewater in the process of copper-plating.With montmorillonite as the raw material, the montmorillonite absorption behavior and mechanism are studied systematically. In natural bentonite the montmorillonite purity is not high, with content generally between 50%-80%. In the study the montmorillonite column requires the montmorillonite content above 90%. Therefore the montmorillonite refinement is of importance. Through the comparation of different refinement processing methods, the optimistic refining condition is chosen: (1). the concentration of the dispersing agent at 0.6%;(2). the pH value solution 7.0;(3) the stirring speed 400 r/min.Hydroxyl polymerization iron modified montmorillonite is the focus of the study. The OH-Fe supported montmorillonite column has been produced through improving the privous preparation methods. Through EDTA-Cu adsorption experiment results, the adsorptive capacity is improved. And the treating method is economical.Using the atomic absorption spectrum analyzer, the montmorillonite's inorganic compounds layers and the EDTA-Cu adsorption mechanism are studied. The research indicates that, in copper-plating waste water, the EDTA-Cu molerculors relatively large and difficult to enter between the layers, the untreated bentonite performs not efficiently enough. After the support of hydroxyl polymerization iron pole, the adsorption effiecency is improved and EDTA-Cu groups in copper-plating waste water can be romoved effectively.The study is with innovative achievement in effective removal of EDTA-Cu in the copper-plating waste water. And a highly effective and economical water treatment agent isprovided. A new application of inorganic bentonite has been acheived, and is of theoretic significance and application prospect.
