The monitor to drainage of flue-dust is one of the important content of environmental monitor. At present, before the industrial flue-dust is discharged, it has been purified and eliminated ultimately, the concentration of flue-dust will be relatively low, so conventional opaque measurement is difficult to satisfy the metrical precision request. At the same time, the installation of equipment of present industrial monitor flue-dust concentration is mostly complex. Toward the instance, in this paper, a design project to measure flue-dust concentration which is based on the method of optical back-scattering is put forward. In this paper, the purpose of the monitoring the concentration of flue-dust emission is expatiated and the present measurements and the excellences and shortcomings of these measurements are summarized in detail, and then the necessity of carrying through the investigation is put forward in this paper. The second, the characters and types of scattering and the theory of Mie scattering are summarized. Through the theoretical analysis, a function relation between the back-scattering light intensity and flue-dust concentration under the condition of lower concentration is received. The third, according as the result of theoretical analysis, a design project to measure flue-dust concentration which is based on the method of optical-backscattering is put forward and a suit of experimental system is established. Through the experimental investigation, the conclusion of theoretical analysis is testified that it is right. The fourth, according as the model of experimental system, a metricalprototype is manufactured, elementary experimental measure indicate that the prototype is characterized by simple installation, high sensitivity, real time, on-line and continuous measurement.
