Bisoprolol is a novel and specific beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent and has been used for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias. The dosage forms of bisoprolol available on the market are tablet , injection and capsule. However, at present, marketed transdermal therapeutic patches was not found.Bisoprolol has a strong pharmaco dynamic effect(oral dose is 5 ~20 mg/d). It has a low molecular weight (325.45) and a suitable octanol/water partition coefficient(logPo/w = 1.84). So it is adapted to be made as transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS).In this thesis, some physicochemical properties and the transdermal delivery across Guinea pig skin in vitro of bisoprolol with 3 kinds of penetration enhancers used alone or combined were studied.For the successful development, a series of systematic studies were conducted.
