Large-dimensional closing steam-tube rotary dryer is a key equipment for PTA producing devices. The dryer studied in this thesis was a domestic equipment with intellectual properties. Because of its large dimensions, complex structure and multi-load conditions, the estimation of whole structure strength and fatigue life of the dryer became a challenge.In this thesis, a finite model for the whole dryer was built by using the ANSYS code. The model was simplified based on processing conditions. The temperature distribution of the model was calculated with convection conditions, and then applied on the structure finite element model as body loads. After consideration with a large number of loading combinations, four most possible load combinations were chosen as design reference cases, and the stress intensity and displacement of the dryer was analyzed with the four reference cases. The stress and deformation distribution of the dryer under the four reference cases has been obtained.The results showed that the integrity of the dryer and stresses and deformations in its main parts, e.g. the tube-sheet, the cir-clip, and the heat exchange tube, satisfied all strength and stiffness criterion, as well as the...
