Nanostructures are structures that defined as having at least one dimension between 1 and 100 nm while microstructures are between 1 and 100μm. Ever since 1980s, nano/microstructures have received steadily growing interests due to their excellent properties and potential applications superior to their bulk counterparts. Nowadays, nanotechnology has a great development all over the world thus aroused novel changes to information, medical treatment, automatization, energy sources and other areas. Optics, mechanics, chemistry, calorifics and electronics are all involved.Properties of nanoparticles not only have relation with their sizes but also their shapes. How to control the shapes of nanoparticles effictively is still a tough problem. Metal chalcogenides are rather interesting materials. ID metal selenide nanomaterials can exhibit special optical and electrical properties compared with semiconductor quantum dots. Therefore, the synthesis of ID metal selenide nanomaterials is of great importance.Hydrothermal or solvothermal approach is a commonly used methodology for generating nanostructures. The major advantage of this approach is that most materials can be made soluble in a proper solvent by heating and pressuring the system close to its critical point. This method has been extensively exploited to process a rich variety of materials into wire, tubes and rods so we choose it as a chief synthetic method in our study. In this thesis, CdSe and ZnSe nano/microstructures have been synthesized via hydro-/solvothermal routes. The as-obtained product was investigated by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectrum. The main contents are as follows:1. Solvolthermal Synthesis and Characterization of paniculiform-like ZnSe MicrostructuresPaniculiform-like microstructures of Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) have been synthesized...
