It describes the application of carbon fiber ,the progress and the advancement of the sizing for carbon fiber, the theory of emulsion polymerization ,the synthesize and the performance of the sizing agent in this paper. It applies a new method of polymerization, the emulsion polymerization of the seed, the new technique of the later dripping to the pre-emulsification solution, the synthesize of epoxy sizing for carbon fiber is polymerized by using the monomer of epoxide resin, vinyl-acetic ester and the crylic acid. It also demonstrates the best proportion of the monomer to the sizing agent, the best process condition of the sizing agent and the factors that affect the latex stability. It compares the effect of different mixed emulsifier to the latex by static deposition means and analysis the latex particle diameter by SEM. The results shows that the mixed emulsifier of OP-10,T-80 and DBS is the best. The average diameter of the particle is 2/xm and the distribution of the particle is equality. It studies the kinetic of the polymerization and discusses the factors that affect the velocity of polymerization. It measures the molecular weight and the distribution by GPC. It's results shows that the distribution is narrow. The carbon fiber is treated on the surface by a new surface-treating method —boil-dipping. It studies the cementation to the carbon fiber. The change of carbon fiber on the surface after and before the treatment is observed by SEM and discusses the mechanism of cementation. It analysis the polymer structure by IR and Raman spectrogram. The results shows that the polymer is composed of epoxide resin ,vinyl-acetic and crylic acid. The research shows the emulsion sizing agent has better cementation function to the carbon fiber. After sized, the surface of carbon fiber is smooth and flat, which can inhibit the filoplume and the break of fiber, improve its operational performance greatly. The raw material for the polymerization is cheap and wide.
