At present, traditional remediation technologies of heavy metal pollution are very expensive and disturb the soils configuration, it will lead to the decrease of soil active and fertility. So it is impossible to be used at large scale, especially in the developing countries. In addition there are short of experience of application and the effect of dealing with the polluted soils is lack of stabilization. As a kind of newly invented bio-environmental technology, bioremediation is much more available than the traditional technology of physical and chemical remediation as its advantage of low cost, high efficiency and no secondary pollution. As a matter of fact, it has attracted attentions from countries all over the world and has played an increasing role in the treatment of soil pollution.In this paper the heavy metal pollution is investigated and assessed in the heavy metal minin g areas of Fujian province. Then the filtration of hyperaccumulators was carried out based on th e content of heavy metals in plants. Plant growth and lead accumulation of accumulating ecot ypes of the selected plants were studied with hydroponics and field experiments. The main res ults obtained are summarized as follows:1. The investigation and analysis of soils in the heavy metal mining areas of LianCheng,YouXi co unty in Fujian province showed: the soil is mainly polluted by elements Pb. The concentration o f Pb in several soils of LianCheng Pb-Zn heavy metal mine is higher 23.71-142.85 times tha n the non-polluted areas, and LianCheng Mn mine is 13.53-48.79 times, YouXi Pb-Zn metal mine is 59.04-152.82 times higher than the non-polluted areas, respectively. But the concentra tion of Pb in different heavy metal mines has a differentia. And the results show that the po lluted degree has reached a serious extent.2. Pb polluted index in three heavy metal mines is 9.28-34.99, and the monomial polluted index is excess to 3,it shows the heavy metal pollution in the metal mines is very serious . According to the Environmental quality standard for soils (III), the pollution grade of three he avy metal mines is YouXi Pb-Zn mine ,LianCheng Pb-Zn mine and LianCheng Mn mine, re spectively.3.
