At present, green sand foundry is the primary method of casting production, the performance of green sand is one of the important factors which affected casting quality. So it is significant for improving casting quality and social productivity of labor to study fast testing system of green sand composition and performance parameter.A new multifunctional test system of evaluating green sand quality was developed in this paper. The test system consits of mechanism, a slave computer and a master computer, and can obtain the primal information parameters of compressibility, permeability, temperature, synthetical strength and the conductivity performance automately or by hand. Based on"Double Powers Exciting Method"and ANN technique, the moisture and the available clay content of green sand can be calculated quickly by the system. On the core of 80C196KC, by extending man-machine interface and communication interface and so on, main include program store, data store, I/O interface circuit and analog signals amplifier etc. The test system relizes the functions of sampling, measuring and ejecting waste sand sample automatically. The administrant program of the master computer was designed by Visual C++ 6.0 and Matlab 6.5 which have the merits of wonderful encapsulation, easy maintenance, friendly interface, high code-efficiency, powerful account and data analysis ability. To ensure the credible exchange of information, communication between master computer and slave computer is realized on the basis of RS-232 serial agreement. The test system runs in good condition, in the environment of laboratory, and possesses perfect reliability and anti-interference ability.
